Lapwings - Lapwing tracks

Wifina

Sex: female

Transmitter: 192A

Monitored from: 10.4.2025, Černilov (CZ)

Year 2025: Wifina was captured on 10.4.2025 near Černilov. After this unsuccessful breeding attempt, she moved toward Libčany, where she nested again. Unfortunately, the next breeding attempt also failed, the nest was destroyed around midday, suggesting it may have been lost to agricultural activity (e.g., destroyed by tractor) rather than predation.

Nevertheless, Wifina did not give up. She stayed in the area for another nesting attempt, which this time was successful. The chicks hatched and fledged. During the chick-rearing period, Wifina lead them across a road and through part of a built-up area.

Her migration began in mid-summer on 1.8., when she reached France. She spent three months there and set off again on 2.11. She arrived at her final wintering grounds on 10.11., located just north of Gibraltar.
