Lapwings - Lapwing tracks

Amálka

Sex: female

Transmitter: 0EA1

Monitored from: 24.4.2024, Na Shnilé - Loukonosy

Year 2024: In the 2024 season, she was captured on a nest in a field between Žíželice and Louknosy. This nesting attempt was unsuccessful. She nested a second time south of Hradišťko II, where she successfully raised chicks and later moved them to a pasture near Tetov, more than 2 kilometers away. In July, she visited the sand quarry near Lhota pod Libčany, where several other tagged lapwings were also present.

She began her migration to the wintering grounds on October 23, 2024. After several stops in Germany, she arrived in France on October 28. At the beginning of November, she was located near Verdun and also north of Le Mans. On November 11, she reached the sea near La Rochelle, where she stayed for about a month. Then, on December 10, she left France and continued south to Spain, where she remained until the end of the year.

Year 2025: On 11.1., Amálka left her wintering site near Zamora in Spain and continued further south to southern Portugal. She stayed there until mid-February, when she began her return journey to the Czech Republic. On 14.2., she left Portugal and spent the following days near Zamora in Spain (16.–26.2.). From there, she continued to France on 27.2., moved into Germany on 7.3., and finally arrived back in the Czech Republic on 11.3.

From 13.3., she began searching for a suitable nesting site again, in the area around Žíželice near Chlumec nad Cidlinou, where she had been successful the previous year. Over the course of the season, she nested three times. Unfortunately, two of the clutches were unsuccessful, likely due to predation. The third nest successfully hatched, but none of the chicks eventually reached fledging.
